Total transparency....I'm no longer an avid follower of the NBA and haven't been for quite some time!
I know all about the great Celtics/Lakers rivalry in the 70' & 80's. I watched Jordan's entire career and was fascinated when Shaq entered the league with the Magic and his subsequent move to the Lakers.
I remember vividly those nasty Detroit Piston teams and cheered when Jordan finally got past them. I loved Stockton & Malone and hoped Barkley would win a Title when he went to the Sun's.
I grew up a fan of the Bullets and Moses Malone but by the time LeBron entered the league, I slowly lost interest in the league and watched less & less.
Now, I don't watch it at all and I'm just minimally aware of what is going on in the league. It's a different game now with players making millions taking "maintenance games"!
It's funny listening to them justifying why they need days off when they don't play all 12 months and make so much money. Jordan was lucky to get a few minutes a game off and he complained about being taken out of the game.
I know I'm an old man complaining about how thing use to be but it's true that this is a much different world then the world I grew up in. Some things are way better but some things are way dumber!
